How do I cook chicken in the oven properly?

I have marinated some chicken with tikka paste and yoghurt, and was wondering how to cook it properly to make sure it doesn't go too hard. Usually when I cook chicken in the oven the texture and the chicken become very tough, something I would like to avoid this time. Any suggestions?
