Why did the blacks use a song written by a white woman to pay tribute to Whitney Houston?

At the BET awards, Jennifer Hudson sang I Will Always Love You to Whitney Houston. No one mentioned Dolly Parton, which I found incredibly rude and disrespectful. That was her song first, she wrote and sang it. Why didn't they give her any credit Is it because she's white?
